On Thursday, October 29, 2026, Digital Strada hosts Engineering Lab #1 in Timișoara—an intensive hands-on field deployment stress-testing the next-generation SpaceX Starlink Standard v4 terminal alongside the Starlink Router Mini on a real-world Standard Residential plan (~100 Mbps).
1. Architectural Shift: Motorless Electronic Beamforming
The defining engineering milestone of Starlink v4 is the complete elimination of mechanical motors. Unlike prior generations that physically rotated on an internal azimuth/elevation drive, the v4 terminal features a 110° ultra-wide field of view with pure electronic phased array beam steering (AESA), IP67 hermetic weather resilience, and a dual-purpose cast aluminum mount providing passive thermal dissipation.
2. Network Topology & Dual-Gigabit Routing
During Lab #1, we configure the Starlink Router Mini in Bypass Mode, passing raw L2 frames directly to an enterprise MikroTik edge gateway via dual-gigabit Ethernet interfaces. We monitor live packet consistency, jitter, and continuous token streaming to api.x.ai inference clusters.
3. Real-World Baseline Performance
Operating on the Standard Residential plan (~100 Mbps downlink), our testbed captures real-world packet consistency without enterprise QoS prioritization, testing concurrent edge telemetry uploads and spatial computing workloads.
